Travel Money Check™ is operated by D & P Holdings Group LLC.
Travel Money Check™ helps travelers compare the estimated total cost of spending, withdrawing, exchanging, or sending money internationally. Our goal is to make the difference between an advertised exchange rate and the final transaction cost easier to understand.
Calculations are estimates, not quotes or guarantees. The amount ultimately charged or received is controlled by the bank, card issuer, ATM operator, merchant, currency-exchange provider, transfer service, card network, or other provider involved in the transaction.
1. Core Principle
An exchange rate alone does not show the full transaction cost. A comparison may also need to account for:
- exchange-rate markup or spread;
- foreign-transaction fee;
- ATM operator surcharge;
- bank or card-issuer withdrawal fee;
- transfer or service fee;
- receiving or intermediary-bank fee;
- cash-advance fee or interest treatment;
- dynamic currency conversion; and
- minimum, maximum, percentage-based, or tiered charges.
2. Exchange-Rate Estimates
The website’s converter displays exchange-rate information supplied through Currency.Wiki. The source and update information displayed by the converter controls for that particular estimate.
The displayed rate may differ from the rate available when a transaction settles, a card network’s conversion rate, a provider’s customer rate, an ATM or merchant’s offered rate, or a rate quoted at a different time.
Unless expressly identified as live and provider-specific, a displayed rate should be treated as an indicative estimate.
3. Total-Cost Framework
Where the necessary inputs are available, an estimated comparison follows this framework:
- Reference conversion: Multiply the transaction amount by the displayed reference exchange rate.
- Rate adjustment: Apply any documented provider markup, spread, or alternative conversion rate.
- Percentage fees: Add documented percentage-based charges.
- Fixed fees: Add documented ATM, withdrawal, service, transfer, or other fixed fees.
- Recipient deductions: Account for known receiving or intermediary deductions when reliable information is available.
- Estimated outcome: Display the estimated amount paid, amount received, or effective total cost.
If a required component cannot be verified, it must be labeled unknown, excluded, estimated, or requiring confirmation. Unknown charges must not silently be treated as zero.
4. Illustrative Scenarios
Educational demonstrations may use stated assumptions to show how fees affect a transaction. These figures must be labeled illustrative, example, or estimate. They do not describe a specific provider unless a named and dated source is provided.
Illustrative figures must not be presented as guaranteed savings, live provider data, or a personalized recommendation.
5. Source Hierarchy
Sources are preferred in this order:
- current provider agreements, cardholder agreements, account disclosures, fee schedules, and official pricing pages;
- official card-network, ATM-network, bank, or transfer-service documentation;
- government agencies and regulators;
- official provider support materials or written provider confirmations; and
- reputable secondary sources when primary materials are unavailable, clearly identified as secondary.
Advertisements, promotional claims, user reports, forum posts, and search-result summaries are not controlling evidence without corroboration.
6. Required Source Record
Each named provider or product record should include, when available:
- provider and product name;
- country or market covered;
- fee or rate component;
- exact source title and URL;
- source publication or effective date, if stated;
- date accessed or verified;
- relevant limitations or eligibility requirements; and
- confidence classification.
7. Confidence Labels
- Verified: A current primary source directly supports the listed fee or term.
- Partially verified: Some components are supported, but a relevant component remains uncertain.
- Illustrative estimate: The figure is calculated from disclosed assumptions rather than a provider-specific quote.
- Outdated—recheck required: The information may no longer be current.
- Unavailable: Sufficient reliable information could not be located.
8. Review and Freshness
Every provider-specific record should show a Last verified date. High-use records should be reviewed regularly and when a provider announces a material change. Records not reverified within 180 days should be flagged for review rather than represented as current without qualification.
Visitors should always confirm current terms directly with the provider before transacting.
9. Comparability Limits
Providers calculate rates and fees differently. Authorization, clearing, settlement, weekends, holidays, location, account tier, card type, ATM ownership, transaction channel, and recipient bank may affect the outcome.
A lower advertised fee does not necessarily produce a lower total cost. Availability, speed, security, fraud protections, cancellation rights, reliability, and eligibility may also matter.
10. Independence and Commercial Relationships
Travel Money Check™ may eventually use advertising, sponsorships, or affiliate links. Any such relationship must be disclosed clearly near the affected content. Compensation must not determine the calculation method, source standard, or factual conclusion.
Unless expressly stated, inclusion of a provider does not indicate endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or approval.
11. Corrections Standard
Travel Money Check™ is committed to correcting material factual errors transparently. You may report:
- an inaccurate or outdated fee;
- an exchange-rate description or calculation error;
- a broken or misidentified source;
- a provider or product classification error;
- unclear or misleading wording;
- an undisclosed commercial relationship; or
- another factual issue supported by reliable evidence.
12. How to Submit a Correction
Email contact@travelmoneycheck.com with the subject line
Correction Request and include, when possible:
- the affected page URL;
- the statement, provider, calculator, or table row involved;
- a short description of the suspected error;
- the proposed correction;
- a supporting primary-source link; and
- the date you observed the issue.
Do not send sensitive financial or identity information.
13. How Corrections Are Reviewed
Reports are evaluated against this methodology. Priority generally reflects the potential financial impact, number of visitors affected, importance to a calculation or comparison, reliability of the evidence, and any consumer-protection concern.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that the proposed change will be accepted. Additional evidence or provider confirmation may be requested.
14. Material Corrections
A correction is material when the original information could reasonably affect a visitor’s understanding, provider comparison, or transaction decision.
For a material correction, the affected page should state what changed, the correction date, the supporting source, and whether the correction changed a calculation, ranking, or conclusion.
Routine spelling, grammar, formatting, accessibility, or broken-link repairs that do not change meaning may be made without a public correction note.
15. No Pay-for-Change Rule
Travel Money Check™ will not accept payment to remove an accurate fact, conceal a material fee, alter a methodology result, or suppress a good-faith correction. Advertising or affiliate relationships do not exempt a provider from the same standards.
